Objectives

Rural areas present particular conditions, challenges and energy needs that can be supplied by the use of renewable technologies. Considering the potential resources - together with the energy demands - a methodology has been developed for determining the suitability of small scale renewable technologies in rural locations.

The project objectives are:

• Establish a methodology for assessing the potential of small scale renewables in rural locations and to identify the most appropriate technologies.
  
  
• Develop a comprehensive framework for assessing the energy demand in rural locations
  
  
• To apply the methodology to rural case studies and make a proposal for implementing the identified technologies
